January, 2011. That’s when we were introduced to the brilliance of Karachi-based metal-monger Taimur Tajik - via the single ‘Just Like the Rest’. He had us at the lyric ‘your drama’s overrated’ [preach it, Tajik!] .. what a powerfully written, adrenalin rush of a track. His debut album ‘Vice Versa’ released earlier this year - and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on a copy...

Singer and musician Taimur Tajik launched his album at Nida Butt’s Music Art and Dance (MAD) School on Zamzama. The ambience was initially cosy and inviting but became too congested as many of Tajik’s well-wishers gathered to support the artists and wish him luck.

Taimur Tajik is a guitarist and vocalist who has travelled extensively but in 2005 came back to settle in Pakistan. In 2009, he began working with Gumby and Omran Shafique on his debut album which is still in progress. However, three of Tajik’s singles ,“Let it Burn”, “Somebody’s Son” and “All in your Head”, have been released online...

Taimur Tajik is not a household name. Not yet in any case. There is no album bearing his name, but two singles up on his site that are slowly making the online rounds amongst the youth in Pakistan.
